Welcome to Lignu products

Lignu is the Swedish name for Smiths & Co CPES, Clear Penetrating Epoxi Sealer

Lignu/CPES consists of tough, flexible resin system in a solvent blend which dissolves the sap, oil and moisture found in wood. The resin system is derived from natural wood themsels. The wood is strengthened while allowing normal expansion and contraction with changes in tempeature and humidity. It is the ultimate primer for wood to make paint or varnish stick. CPES restores strength to rotten wood

Rot goes into wood farther than You think.

With Lignu/CPES We can find all of it.

The slice on the right was treated with  Lignu/CPES dyed with blue color, so that regions of abnormal porosity would be visible after impregnation. In regions where the fungi have eaten the wood, the dyed resin now visible. Lignu/CPES impregnates deteriorated wood much more than sound wood, because it has more porosity. These regions are now impregnated with highly rot-restored and water-repellent resin, and usefull mechanical properties are restored. This treatant improves the abillity of the wood to resist further deterioration.

Using Lignu / CPES as Primer for Varnish

Our goal is to have Your varnish stickwell to Your old or new wood, last a long time, lock beutiful and protect the wood. You must start with dry wood and keep it away from water, rain or dew through the entire priming and painting process.

Apply Lignu/CPES slowly and methodically to the wood until no more soak into the the area. Allow the first application to fully cure, which usually takes 2-4 days, depending on the weather.

if necessary sand lightly using 230-320 grit paper, to remove any raised grain or foreign material.

Now apply Lignu/CPES ones again, but this time do not sand, as this coat is the adhesion-promoting primer, the best result will be if the first coat of varnish will be made before Lignu/CPES has been fully cured, for exampel if You apply the last coat of Lignu/CPES day 1, You can apply the 1st coat of varnish next day, this will glues down the varnish.

Varnish will last longer because the varnish has a strongly attached, chemically compatible surface to bond onto.

Sometimes it is desirable to stain wood before a clear coating is applied. It is important that the stain dry and chemically cure quickly and completely, so that the that the solvents in the Lignu/CPES do not redissolve the binder resins of the stain and rearrange the pigments of the stain, leaving brush marks of coloring. Waterborne stains with acrylic resin binder are not recommended as epoxies do not adhere to them. Stains that contain mineral spirit are likely to be compatible. If one were able to a transparent oil-base stain, those are the types that have historically been used with the greatest sucess. Your personal experiene and evaluation will be necessary to find satisfactory stains.

Vindö Marin, Sweden Use Lignu/CPES as primer.

3 Layer of Lignu as primer thereafter Epifanes varnish.

70%

By using Lignu/CPES as impregnation, the wood's water absorption capacity has been reduced with about 70%. the impregnation is permanent and does not need to be repeated, the impregnation is water-repellent at the same time as it is open to diffusion, ie Lignu / CPES allows trees to breathe.

With Lignu / CPES as a primer before painting, for example, houses, you get paint that lasts better, especially in exposed areas.

RESTORATION OF WOOD.

Lignu / CPES together with Fill-It Epoxy Filler you can restor what you did not think was possible to restor.

Remote old paint and dry the wood.

Lignu/CPES will not work propertly if the wood is waterlooged, and will not soak through old paint.

Clean off the loose, crumbly, completely deteriorated wood. Lignu/CPES works best on wood that cannot be easily picked off.

**************************

Saturate the wood with Lignu/CPES. The Fill-It Epoxy Filler sticks better to wood treated first with the sealer.

After the solvents have evaporated (a day to a week, depending on ventilation and depth of decay). Apply the filler.

****************************

The next day the Fill-It Epoxy Filler may be sanded to shape.

**************************

Before painting, apply one more coat of Lignu/CPES to help the paint stick better and last longer.

Lignu/CPES  last a long time.

If you use Lignu as a primer on wood that is healthy, the consumption is about 1 dl / m2. For damaged, porous wood that requires more absorption, the consumption can be greater.

A common mistake is to mix more than you need, and therefore have to discard the remaining amount.

Lignu, Oak & Teak epoxy Glue

Will glue all oily hardwoods. It will also (with proper chemical surface preparation) glue a wide variety of metal, glass, rubber or plastic materials.

The cured adhesive is complete water and weatherproof.

Oak and Teak Epoxy Glue are largely made from the natural resins of wood itself. Thats is why it can dissolve the natural oils of oily hardwood, which in turn is why it bonds all oily hardwood. Epoxy glues made from petrochemicals cannot do this.

Lignu Fill-It Epoxi Filler

A non-sag epoxi filler for restoration of wood, Easily sanded, Cures over nightIt is easily carved or drilled, and screws may be driven into pilot holes without cracking. It has has sufficient flexibility that it is suitable for wooden or fiberglass boat hull repair as well as wooden beams, windows sills, or other parts of wood buildings. Fill-it Epoxi Filler can be colored so it matching wood as You desire by using colouring pigments.
